Traceability Options for Asset Types in Recycly
When configuring a product in Recycly, you can set one of the following traceability options:
- Track Lots & Specific Items – The product must be tracked either by lots (for batch tracking) or item numbers (for unique-item tracking). This is required during stock movements, and every item (or batch) will need an identifier.
- No Tracking – The product is not tracked individually. There is no requirement to record or reference lot numbers or item numbers.
How These Settings Affect Assets (Unique and Non-Unique)
If No Tracking is selected:
- No asset-specific traceability will be enforced during stock moves.
- All assets (unique or otherwise) will be treated generically.
If Tracking by Item or Lot Number is selected:
- Each asset must have either a item number (for individual units) or a lot number (for grouped items).
- This ensures full traceability through stock movements, collections, processing, and resale or recycling.
This configuration is particularly important for ITAD workflows, where compliance and auditability are key.
When Changes Take Effect
When the traceability setting of a product is changed in Recycly, the following principles apply:
- Changes to product traceability settings only affect future operations.
- Any documents already created — such as Quotations, Sales Orders, or Transfers — will retain the original settings that were active at the time they were created.
- Changing the traceability setting will not alter previously recorded data or affect the traceability status of assets already collected or logged.
For example:
If a quotation was accepted and assets were collected while the product was set to No Tracking, and then later the product is changed to Track Item Numbers, those existing collected assets remain unaffected. Only future collections and stock movements will require item number tracking.
In Summary
- Product traceability settings in Recycly determine whether assets must be individually tracked.
- Changing these settings affects only future stock moves, collections, and orders created after the change.
- Existing transactions and recorded assets remain unchanged.
