We've designed our Aiken integration to be as self-service as possible, but there are occasions where there is a problem on your Aiken server which prevents it from connecting to Recycly, and in these instances it is useful for us to be able to access your Aiken server remotely so we can diagnose any issues.
To complete the below steps, you will need to have the password for the awbadmin user on your Aiken server to hand. This password will have been set when your Aiken server was set up.
TeamViewer
TeamViewer is a piece of software that you install on your Aiken server, which allows us (with your permission) to connect to it, view its screen, and remotely access files needed for support.
Installing TeamViewer
On your Aiken server, press the Windows key on your keyboard (pictured below)
This should bring up the Gnome menu, which should include the Firefox web browser
Open Firefox and go to www.teamviewer.com and click on the Free Download button (or locate the TeamViewer Download option)
In the TeamViewer Free column, press the Download Now button
The "Linux" option should be selected automatically. You need to click the x86-64bit option for Ubuntu/Debian in the "TeamViewer Full Client" section, as shown below
Firefox will then download the file
Once the download has completed. click the downloaded .deb file to open it.
This will open the Package Installer window, as shown below. Press the Install Package button to install TeamViewer
At this point, you will be prompted to enter the password for your awbadmin user.
Once the installation is complete, if you press the Windows key on your keyboard again, you should see a TeamViewer icon on the Gnome Activities menu
Click this to launch TeamViewer.
When contacting Recycly Support, we'll ask for "Your ID" and "Password" as shown in the centre of the screen above.
You can disable TeamViewer access to your server by clicking the Connection menu -> Exit TeamViewer.
