Creating New Asset Types

Last updated: 6 December 2024 at 13:20:01 UTC by Russell Briggs

The quickest way to create a new asset type is to duplicate an existing one that is similar to the one you need.

For example, to create a new "All In One" asset type, you could duplicate the "Desktop PC" asset type.

To do this, go to the Asset Types & Services menu, and locate a similar asset type, the select Actions > Duplicate

Then give the asset type a new name, and check the rest of the settings

Asset Attributes

One of the most important areas when setting up a new asset is to check is the Asset Attributes tab - this defines all the information that you will capture about this type of asset

The above list defines the attributes available when editing an asset of that type

Adding / Removing Attributes

You can add / remove attributes from an asset type at any time, via the "Asset Type Attributes" tab.

Note, when removing attributes, any data already stored in those fields will not be lost, and you can re-add them again at any time.

When adding attributes, you can use the "Search More..." option to get access to categorised list of attributes to add
